He was respected and admired throughout the community and brought integrity to the construction industry. His son Roger is proud to carry on the Higginbotham tradition of high-quality custom home construction in the greater Jacksonville area.
Our History
Our Team
Roger Higginbotham began working in his father’s custom home building business at the age of fourteen. Roger’s summers were spent cleaning job sites, working with various trades, and doing whatever was asked of him. He was mentored daily by his father learning the business from the ground up. Roger has a degree in Construction Technology and has been a Certified Building Contractor licensed by the State of Florida since 1983.
In 2002, Bill Garrison began working with Roger and his father as Operations Manager of their business, managing the day-to-day operations at the job sites, and working closely with homebuyers throughout the process. Bill’s experience in the industry includes years as a framing carpenter, lumber salesman, and real estate agent. Bill is a Florida licensed Certified Residential Contractor, is a US Navy veteran, and has a degree in Organizational Management.
Higginbotham Custom Homes employs some of the finest sub-contractors and craftsmen in Northeast Florida. Many subs have worked for the company for literally decades, and some are multi-generational. Construction Manager Richard Walker has been building custom homes with the Higginbothams for over thirty years. This long-term team of subs, suppliers, and management means the jobs run smoother, and the quality is consistent.
Both Roger and Bill have been active in civic and industry affairs throughout their careers. Roger currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Clay Housing Finance Authority, and the Clay Habitat for Humanity. He served as Chairman of the Clay Builders Council in 1996 and 1998. Bill serves on the Community Leadership Council at Wilkinson Junior High and served as Chairman of the Clay Builders Council in 2007 and 2010.

CLAY TODAY – Two local builders have partnered to bring more than 20 years of experience and reputation to the Clay County construction scene.
With the boom in growth throughout the county, construction opportunities and new businesses are growing as well. With all of this change, having a reputable builder is a great way to ease the stress of a new homeowner or business.
Bill Garrison and Roger Higginbotham have been mainstays in the community for years, having first worked together back in 2002 under Higginbotham’s father, Sid. The new partnership sees two longstanding builders in the high-end luxury niche, bringing their combined strengths together to create works of art – not just houses. According to Garrison, the sky is the limit, with their signature custom houses. Luxury waterfront is a particular specialty of theirs, highlighting the beautiful lakes and rivers in the county.
“We have to have a budget and a general plan first; it helps us develop what we’re going to do. Beyond that, we work directly with the homeowner and their specifications,” Garrison said.
They can build full houses from the ground up, or specific renovations. The pair have done luxury add-ons, as well as just renovations to kitchens and other rooms, and clients’ requests take priority.
